On Exercising

Published by Kara under Health, TV

I complained to Michael a lot about how I don’t have time to do anything. Work-out, cook, do laundry, clean the kitchen. Whinewhinewhinewhine.
So I decided I would shut-off the tv for the majority of the week, vowing that I would spend only a half hour in front of it after work, and see what happened.
Well, [...]

Accuracy in Media Pet Peeve # 384

Published by Kara under TV

The genius George Harrison song is titled “Something,” not “Something in the Way She Moves.”  A quick check on Wikipedia, or amazon.com for the track-listing of Abbey Road will confirm this easily.
I gather that most people aren’t really huge beatles fans anymore (I’ve been rocking out to the mono-mixes in the car for a few months now), [...]

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

Published by Michael under Personal, TV

I’ve been abstaining from TV for three days now, with what I guess I would call mixed results. I haven’t completely avoided the medium — Kara and I have watched two episodes of John Cleese’s documentary The Human Face, which I have on DVD, but I don’t really feel bad about that because it was [...]

I Am Sick of Information

Published by Michael under Personal, Rants, TV

Two things happened to me recently:

I bought issue 100 of Granta, a literary magazine of some note that I’d never heard of before. I’ve only read about fifty pages of it so far, but it’s all been thoroughly enjoyable. I realized it’s been far too long since I read anything really good — or anything [...]

Flavor of Love 3

Published by Kara under TV

It’s been two weeks since Flavor of Love 3 started.  I have to tell you, I find it disappointing so far.
None of the women really stick out.  I knew Season 2 would be hard to top since the first episode that season included a brawl and a dump taken on the floor.  But really, they [...]

Monty Python

Published by Kara under Personal, TV

The Onion AV club has a great interview with John Cleese this week, in honor of a special release of Life of Brian.  I’m not going to discuss his views on religion (which, coincidentally, match mine as regards ego), but I do recommend reading the interview.
I was introduced to Monty Python in my AP English [...]

Celebrity Rehab 1/31/08 - Recap

Published by Kara under TV

This episode was really good for one reason - we see Daniel Baldwin for what he is.
Daniel Baldwin asks Dr. Drew to leave for a day for an “intervention.”  We see him telling everyone else different reasons why he is leaving that day - court case, kid’s play or something else equally as stupid.  We all [...]

Celebrity Rehab

Published by Kara under TV

Anyone who knows me knows I can be a little bit of a reality tv addict. Especially if it involves Flava Flav. It started with The Surreal Life and ran all the way to I Love New York 2 (Flavor of Love 3 is coming out in February). I wasn’t particularly interested [...]

“The Moment of Truth” Makes No Sense

Published by Michael under TV

Like 23 million other Americans, I watched part of Fox’s tasteless new game show “The Moment of Truth” the other night. The format, which has apparently been a hit in Colombia and the UK, is this: Contestants are asked a series of increasingly embarrassing personal questions in a polygraph examination a few days before the [...]
