In my current cubicle situation, I sit kitty corner (sort of) to a woman who eyes me suspiciously, just because I’m a temp. This makes me laugh, for a few reasons.
- She acts as if she thinks I’m going to tattle on her conversations or complaints. Yes, I can hear when you talk. No, I don’t care, I’m just trying to get my work done.
- She said today that she thinks “all these temps” are threatening the permanent employees. Which made me laugh, because no company has any duty to employing me, they just make money off of the arrangement. But it really just makes me laugh because it shows her own insecurity in her job situation or her abilities.
I suppose I’ve been spoiled because I’ve had the good fortune to work at a lot of really fantastic places. I think this place is pretty nice in different ways. But I’m not used to not being cherished, which is, I suppose my own hump to get over.
