David Lynch Should Make Anti-Drug Commercials
I stayed up late on Friday night/morning watching Lost Highway by David Lynch. At the end of the movie I thought to myself, well that was pretty and intense but it didn’t say much of anything to me. It didn’t even make any damn sense.
Well, today I was watching one of those state-sanctioned anti-drug commercials. The kind where they stream some unrelated images together, play some spooky music and end the whole thing with some patently false statement regarding drugs. They’re pretty much a David Lynch movie, only they try to make some sort of sense at the end. That’s impossible because, well, our anti-drug laws and reactions are pretty non-sensible. They really should just quit trying to have a message and embrace the cosmic joke.
