Oprah is an Idiot

Published by Kara at 11:25 am under Internet, Rants

Maybe you guys have been following the upheaval in the light of Palin’s email being “hacked” last week. Maybe you’ve been watching Oprah discuss anonymous, describing it as a terrorist network of child molesters. Maybe you’ve been on 4chan laughing your ass off to a video of Oprah reading an obviously sarcastic comment posted on her website.

And maybe you’ve, at Oprah’s behest, been writing to your legislators about internet issues you have no understanding of. Because the internet isn’t safe for the children and “won’t somebody think of the children?”

I have some important news for you. Your children are anonymous. I went to a wonderful wedding this weekend with a few “members” of anonymous. None of them are child molesters, in my estimation. Mostly they’re moderately intelligent people with killer senses of humor. And an understanding of the inherent anonymity of the web.

That anonymity is important. The web is one of the last respites of truly free speech in this country, in this world. It is free, it is universal, it is accessible to all. And you are demanding that our government, the people who brought you the patriot act, telephone tapping, torture, the suspension of habeas corpus… you’re demanding we give them the power to legislate the internet.

Fuck you. Don’t you think they have enough power? Do you want them to tell you what to eat in the morning so you don’t get fat? Do you want them to tell you how to do your job, how to raise your kids, when to have kids, how to spend your money? These assholes can’t even take care of our economy. They can’t keep our people safe and healthy. So you want to give them more power?

Oprah, you stupid cunt, how dare you encourage people to give up our last respite of free speech just because you have power to speak. How dare you. Because you’re fucking rich and have your own tv show and magazine and website. You have the power to speak and you want to deny the masses that same power because that makes you even more powerful. This isn’t about protecting our children, this is about you denying other people the right to speak.

Yes, some of those people will be child molesters. They’ll be hackers. They might have morals you disagree with. That is the POINT of free speech. Those people are our neighbors, they’re our fellow country-men, and as much as I might hate what they do, I respect they have a right to speak and to exist.

America, don’t give up your free speech. The government won’t protect your right to speak, Oprah won’t protect your right to speak. Only you can.

And as a side-note, before you EVER email your legislator about the internet, why don’t you test your own understanding of it? If you don’t know how a website appears in a browser after you type in the url… if you don’t even know what the http or url stand for, you have no right to even TALK about the internet. Seriously. I guarantee you that 95% of our Congress couldn’t pass that test. Those are the last people I want legislating anything I can do on a resource I understand better than they do. I would give the reigns for regulating the web to anonymous before I would ever trust our government. At least anonymous knows a thing or two about how the web works and the importance of free speech.

Fuck all y’all.

OK, I’m going to break rules 1 and 2 here for a moment and say a few things.

What people need to understand is that there is nothing particularly magical about /b/. The internet has always had a dark underbelly where people in the know have gotten together to speak freely. There’s really nothing that different between /b/ today and alt.* 15 years ago. /b/ will be destroyed by its own popularity (”newfags”) but another forum will inevitably appear.

The sicker society gets, the sicker that forum gets. /b/ isn’t a reflection of what’s wrong with kids today. It’s much scarier than that: it’s what’s wrong with the rest of us in the eyes of the kids, and they’ve got us dead to rights. When Oprah cries out about the child rapist syndicate called Anonymous, is she condemning evil or revealing her own fear of the unknown? Communists, terrorists, homosexuals, atheists, pedophiles, and who knows what we are going to be afraid of tomorrow.

On the episode of her show that’s making the rounds on Youtube et al., Oprah told her viewers that she wanted to read a post made to her forums by a member of the terrorist pedophile group Anonymous. Then she proceeded to say, with a straight face, “He says he does not forgive. He does not forget. He has over 9000 penises and they are all raping children. So you can see, these people are organized.” Then she essentially called for the destruction of the internet as we know it.

If she succeeds, /b/ will be replaced by something even worse. It will continue to be the chemo that is curing society. Most will not notice it, and most of those who do will not understand.

Oprah is “elitist” in the worst way, and that’s what makes me angry. She sees something she doesn’t understand, that she has helped create by the nature of humanity, and she calls for it to be destroyed. What bothers me isn’t the misunderstanding of /b/ or the threat of it being ruined – culture is resilient, and I believe that freedom is as well. What bothers me is that she is encouraging people to give up their rights to the government because she has guaranteed rights. She has money and people listen to her, hence she has power, hence she has guaranteed rights. Oprah will never not have free speech, she doesn’t have to fight for it. And dammit, pedophiles, hackers… these are people who have been thrust out of society and denied most rights… how dare we deny them the basic freedom of free speech. Criminals, serial killers, Marquis de fucking Sade all had free speech. Everyone deserves it, and rather than harming society, it does the most good.

It is so refreshing to see truth still flooding the web. They will eventually silence us, but, guess what!! Soon after, Christ will come and vindicate every honest hearted person who has been crushed under the mass of ignorance that is spreading over our nation. Just hold onto our Lord and Saviour, and He will set everything right in His own time. Foolish people like O and O will be exposed for WHAT THEY REALLY ARE; a couple of nutcakes. By the way, watch how O pronounces “the presidency” when he talks. He says “the presiDUNCY!! Oh, how foolish he is. Apparently he and his cultish following have no clue that he is only a puppet for the real power that few are aware of. Oprah makes me sick. It will be gratifying to see how the Lord deals with her. She has openly denied him, and she will pay the price that He exacts from her. I would not want to face Him in her shoes. She will make such a fool of herself at the inauguration, and she won’t even realize it. She will blow countless dollars for her big bash, only to put a bigger feather in her cap. Shame, shame, what an idiot she is.
